How many Kicks each day
How many kicks do you recomend for days off from the school?
This gave me a new perspective. Thank you for sharing the information here.
Respects.
Sawadee Krup,
There is no right or wrong answer to this question, however, the way I approach it is as such.
Bruce Lee had a saying that I love:
"I am not afraid of the man who knows 10,000 kicks. I am afraid of the man who knows 1 kick, and has practiced it 10,000 times."
As it turns out, current research on skill development is showing that he got it right. In order to develop something into a reflex, it needs to be practiced (perfectly) just about 10,000 times.
Now, you can't do 10,000 kicks a day. However, in the personal training field, a little known fact that is commonly used to create amazing transformations in clients comes in handy here.
Every single cell in the human body is completely renewed every six months. That means that what you have done in the last six months determines the make-up of the cells in your body right now. So, if we do our 10,000 kicks, equally divided over the 182 and 1/2 days... you need to do about 55 each and every day, including weekends and training days to develop them into a reflex in six months.
That is not 55 total kicks, that is 55 of each kick. 55 Regular Roundhouse Kicks, 55 Quick Switch Roundhouse Kicks, 55 Step Into It Roundhouse Kicks, 55 Left Hop Into It Kicks, 55 Right Hop Into It Kicks. 55 Long Foot Jabs, 55 Short Foot Jabs, 55 Long Lean Left Foot Jabs, 55 Long Lean Right Foot Jabs, etc, and so on.
I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Khun Kru Kedric Umaa
